THIS STATEMENT RECOMMENDS ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY RESIDENTS OF
AGRIHAN...PAGAN...ALAMAGAN...SAIPAN AND TINIAN.

...WATCHES AND WARNINGS...
A TYPHOON WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR AGRIHAN OF THE NORTHERN
MARIANA ISLANDS. A TROPICAL STORM WARNING AND A TYPHOON WATCH REMAIN
IN EFFECT FOR SAIPAN AND TINIAN.

...STORM INFORMATION...
AT 1 AM GUAM LST...1500Z...THE CENTER OF TYPHOON SONGDA WAS LOCATED
NEAR LATITUDE 17.7 DEGREES NORTH AND LONGITUDE 147.0 DEGREES EAST.
THIS IS ABOUT 115 MILES SOUTHEAST OF AGRIHAN
               85 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF PAGAN
               70 MILES EAST OF ALAMAGAN
              195 MILES NORTH-NORTHEAST OF SAIPAN
              210 MILES NORTH-NORTHEAST OF TINIAN
              275 MILES NORTH-NORTHEAST OF ROTA
              330 MILES NORTH-NORTHEAST OF GUAM.

SONGDA IS NOW A CATEGORY 4 TYPHOON WITH MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS OF
145 MPH...AND IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE INTENSIFYING. TYPHOON SONGDA
IS MOVING NORTHWEST AT 15 MPH.

...AGRIHAN...
AGRIHAN REMAINS IN TYPHOON CONDITION 1. THE CURRENT FORECAST TRACK
OF TYPHOON SONGDA PUTS IT VERY CLOSE TO AGRIHAN BY MID MORNING.
MEASURES TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY SHOULD ALREADY BE COMPLETED.
SECURE OUTSIDE FURNITURE AND OTHER LOOSE OBJECTS. SEEK SAFE SHELTER.
BOATS SHOULD BE IN SAFE HAVEN. MONITOR OFFICIAL SOURCES FOR STORM

TYPHOON-FORCE WINDS OF 110 TO 150 MPH BY MID MORNING. WINDS WILL
SHIFT TO SOUTH LATE THIS MORNING AND SLOWLY DIMINISH...FALLING TO 50
TO 60 MPH BY THIS EVENING AND TO 35 TO 45 MPH LATE TONIGHT. IF EYE

TYPHOON PASSES THIS MORNING. COASTAL INUNDATION WILL REACH 9 TO 12

PAGAN AND ALAMAGAN REMAIN IN TYPHOON CONDITION 1. MEASURES TO

SOUTH LATE THIS MORNING AND SLOWLY DIMINISH...FALLING TO 50 TO 60
MPH THIS AFTERNOON AND TO 35 TO 45 MPH TONIGHT. IF EYE PASSAGE
OCCURS...DO NOT VENTURE FAR FROM SHELTER AS TYPHOON-FORCE WINDS WILL
QUICKLY RETURN FROM THE SOUTH.

REMEMBER...THE ACTUAL WINDS EXPERIENCED WILL DEPEND GREATLY ON THE
EXACT TRACK AND INTENSITY OF THE TYPHOON. RESIDENTS OF PAGAN AND
ALAMAGAN SHOULD ALL BE PREPARED FOR A DIRECT HIT.

WILL TURN TO THE SOUTHWEST AND WEAKEN TO 20 TO 25 MPH BY THIS
AFTERNOON.
