THIS STATEMENT IS FOR RESIDENTS OF THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES IN
SOUTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA...BRUNSWICK...NEW HANOVER AND PENDER AND
IN NORTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA...GEORGETOWN AND HORRY. THIS
ALSO INCLUDES THE COASTAL WATERS FROM SURF CITY NORTH
CAROLINA SOUTH TO SOUTH SANTEE RIVER SOUTH CAROLINA.

A TROPICAL STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FROM SURF CITY NORTH CAROLINA
SOUTHWARD TO SOUTH SANTEE RIVER SOUTH CAROLINA.

...STORM INFORMATION...
AT 5 PM EDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION SEVEN WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 31.6 NORTH...LONGITUDE  78.1 WEST OR ABOUT
140 MILES...SOUTHEAST OF CHARLESTON SOUTH CAROLINA AND 180 MILES
SOUTH OF WILMINGTON.

THE DEPRESSION IS NEARLY STATIONARY. A SLOW WESTWARD DRIFT IS
EXPECTED TO BEGIN LATER TONIGHT. THIS MOTION COULD BRING THE CENTER
CLOSER TO THE SOUTHEASTERN U.S. COAST ON SATURDAY.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 30 MPH...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS.  SOME STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS...
AND THE DEPRESSION COULD BECOME A TROPICAL STORM ON SATURDAY.

THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1014 MB OR 29.94 INCHES.

EVERY HOUSEHOLD SHOULD HAVE A PLAN OF ACTION WHEN HURRICANES OR
TROPICAL STORMS THREATENS. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE...NOW IS THE TIME
TO FORMULATE ONE. WHEN MAKING YOUR PLAN...GIVE FULL CONSIDERATION
TO WHETHER YOU SHOULD LEAVE OR STAY IF A WARNING IS ISSUED FOR YOUR
LOCATION. RESIDENTS SHOULD FOLLOW THE ADVICE OF LOCAL EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT AND OTHER GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS.

POWER OUTAGES ARE POSSIBLE IF TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS DEVELOP
OVER THE WATCH AREA. STOCK UP ON CANNED FOOD...ESPECIALLY FOOD THAT
CAN BE EATEN WITHOUT COOKING OR HEATING. CHECK FOR ADEQUATE
SUPPLIES OF PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS. HAVE WORKABLE FLASHLIGHTS OR
PORTABLE LANTERNS AND A BATTERY POWERED RADIO. HAVE A SUPPLY OF
SPARE BATTERIES. STORE OR SECURE LAWN FURNITURE...BARBECUE GRILLS...
GARBAGE CANS AND OTHER LOOSE OUTDOOR OBJECTS.

BOAT OWNERS SHOULD TAKE ACTION NOW TO REMOVE THEIR BOATS FROM THE
WATER OR SECURE THEM FOR TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS. AVIATION
INTERESTS SHOULD BEGIN PREPARATIONS NOW FOR RELOCATING AIRCRAFT
SHOULD A WARNING BE ISSUED.

...WIND IMPACTS...
WINDS ACROSS THE AREA WILL GRADUALLY INCREASE SATURDAY EVENING TO 20
TO 25 MPH AND CONTINUE INTO SUNDAY WITH HIGHER GUSTS. TROPICAL
STORM FORCE WINDS...IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH...MAY DEVELOP ACROSS THE
AREA ON SUNDAY.

...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
BASED ON THE CURRENT FORECAST TRACK...WINDS WILL BE ONSHORE FROM
SURF CITY TO THE SOUTH SANTEE RIVER. WITH THE CURRENT PROJECTED
STRENGTH AND LOCATION OF THE STORM...TIDES COULD BE 2 TO 4 FEET
ABOVE NORMAL. MODERATE BEACH EROSION IS POSSIBLE WITH THIS STORM.

...SEAS AND RIP CURRENTS...
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS AND HIGH SEAS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP
OVER THE COASTAL WATERS SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY. MARINERS SHOULD
MAKE PREPARATIONS TO STAY IN PORT. THERE IS A MODERATE RISK FOR RIP
CURRENTS ON SATURDAY WITH POSSIBLE DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS ON SUNDAY.

...FLOOD IMPACTS...
SEVERAL INCHES OF RAIN HAVE ALREADY FALLEN ACROSS THE AREA DURING
THE PAST FEW DAYS AND THE GROUND IS NEARLY SATURATED. RAINFALL
AMOUNTS OF 4 TO 8 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE WITH THIS SYSTEM.  FLOODING
WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE AREA. FLOOD WATCHES MAY BE POSTED FOR
THE REGION LATER TONIGHT OR ON SATURDAY IF NEEDED.
