SOUTHWEST OF FORT MYERS. CHARLEY IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH
NORTHEAST NEAR 20 MPH. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 145
MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS...NOW A DANGEROUS CATEGORY FOUR ON THE
SAFFIR SIMPSON HURRICANE SCALE. ON THIS TRACK...THE CENTER OF THE
HURRICANE SHOULD REACH THE COAST IN THE VICINITY OF CHARLOTTE HARBOR
LATER THIS AFTERNOON. LATEST MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE REPORTED BY A
HURRICANE RECONNAISSANCE PLANE WAS 954 MB...28.17 INCHES.
...WIND IMPACTS...
A REPORT FROM THE FORT JEFFERSON ON THE DRY TORTUGAS INDICATED THAT
THE DOCK AT FORT JEFFERSON HAS BEEN DAMAGED OR DESTROYED...AND THE
CMAN PLATFORM HAS MOST LIKELY BEEN DESTROYED. BECAUSE OF THE
INTENSIFICATION OF CHARLEY...WINDS IN THE LOWER AND MIDDLE KEYS WILL
CONTINUE TO GUST TO HURRICANE FORCE IN OUR GULF WATERS. THE WINDS
ALONG THE KEYS ISLAND CHAIN ARE BEGINNING TO DIMINISH...BUT WILL
STILL EXPERIENCE GUSTS NEAR 35 MPH FOR THE NEXT FEW HOURS.

HURRICANE FORCE WINDS ARE STILL POSSIBLE IN OUR GULF WATERS OVER THE
NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. SEAS STILL REMAIN DANGEROUS IN ALL WATERS.
