NEAR LATITUDE 21.2 NORTH...LONGITUDE 81.9 WEST OR ABOUT 140
MILES... 230 KM...SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF HAVANA CUBA. THIS POSITION IS
ALSO ABOUT 640 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA.
CHARLEY IS NOW MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR 18 MPH
...30 KM/HR. A GRADUAL TURN TOWARD THE NORTH IS EXPECTED DURING
THE NEXT 24 HOURS. ON THE FORECAST TRACK...CHARLEY IS EXPECTED TO
PASS NEAR THE ISLE OF YOUTH TONIGHT AND NEAR HAVANA CUBA FRIDAY
MORNING.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 105 MPH...165 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. THIS MAKES CHARLEY A CATEGORY TWO HURRICANE ON THE
SAFFIR-SIMPSON HURRICANE SCALE. ADDITIONAL STRENGTHENING IS
FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS AND CHARLEY COULD BECOME A MAJOR
HURRICANE LATER TONIGHT OR FRIDAY.
IT REMAINS TOO EARLY TO SPECULATE ON EXACT LOCAL EFFECTS FROM
CHARLEY. ERRORS IN THE FORECAST TRACK AT 36 HOURS ARE NEAR 125 MILES.
INTERESTS IN THE REGION...INCLUDING INTERIOR AREAS...SHOULD CONTINUE
TO CLOSELY MONITOR THE FUTURE PROGRESS OF HURRICANE CHARLEY. IT IS

BASED ON THE CURRENT FORECAST TRACK...WINDS WILL GENERALLY BE
PARALLEL TO THE COAST OR BLOWING OFFSHORE. THEREFORE ONLY MINOR
TIDAL FLOODING IS EXPECTED WITH TIDES ALONG THE ATLANTIC COAST 1 TO 2
FEET ABOVE NORMAL.

WINDS WILL BE OVER ALACHUA...MARION AND GILCHRIST COUNTIES...

RAINFALL RATES OF 2 TO 4 INCHES ARE EXPECTED TONIGHT AND INTO
TOMORROW ASSOCIATED WITH MOISTURE FROM TROPICAL STORM BONNIE.
ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL IS EXPECTED AS CHARLEY MOVES OVER THE
REGION. RIVER LEVELS ARE CURRENTLY LOW AND...AT THIS TIME...NO
SIGNIFICANT RIVER FLOODING IS EXPECTED. FLOODING OF POOR DRAINAGE
AREAS IS POSSIBLE AND INTERESTS IN POOR DRAINAGE AREAS ARE ADVISED TO
PREPARE FOR THIS POSSIBILITY. A FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF
NORTH FLORIDA AND SOUTHEAST GEORGIA THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING.
