...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of northeastern Sumner
and northeastern Robertson Counties through 200 AM CDT...
At 110 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Portland, or 16 miles northeast of Springfield, moving east at 30
mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Westmoreland, Cross Plains, Portland, Orlinda, Mitchellville,
Bethpage, Oak Grove and Black Jack.
This includes Interstate 65 between mile markers 115 and 121.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Brief heavy rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead
to localized minor flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through
flooded roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
