The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
  Northern Alabama
  Northern Georgia
  Far Western North Carolina
  Southern Tennessee

* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 225 PM until
  900 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75
    mph possible
  Isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible

SUMMARY...Widely scattered thunderstorms will increase in coverage
through the afternoon across the watch area, while a fast-moving
line of storms approaches from the west.  All of these storms will
pose a risk of damaging wind gusts through early evening.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50
statute miles north and south of a line from 30 miles west northwest
of Muscle Shoals AL to 90 miles east of Chattanooga TN. For a

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
