The National Weather Service in Nashville has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southeastern Cheatham County in middle Tennessee...
Southern Davidson County in middle Tennessee...
Southeastern Dickson County in middle Tennessee...
Northern Williamson County in middle Tennessee...
* Until 700 AM CDT.
* At 259 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding.
SOURCE...Doppler radar.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Franklin, Nashville, Madison, Smyrna, Brentwood, La Vergne,
Nolensville, Forest Hills, Oak Hill, White Bluff, Belle Meade,
Kingston Springs, Pegram, Bellevue, Fairview, Antioch, Berry Hill,
Natchez Trace At Highway 96, Bells Bend and Leipers Fork.
Areas of concern include Big Turnbull Creek including areas near
Liberty Hill and Kingston Springs, Upper and Lower portions of South
Harpeth River including Fairview and Old Harpeth Estates, Richland
Creek including Green Hills and Belle Meade, and the Little Harpeth
including Brentwood, Forest Hills, and Edwin Warner Park.
The intense rainfall has weakened to moderate rain showers which
will gradually taper off through the night, but the risk for
dangerous flash flooding remains.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.
