The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northeastern Cannon County in middle Tennessee...
  De Kalb County in middle Tennessee...
  Putnam County in middle Tennessee...
  Southeastern Smith County in middle Tennessee...
  Northwestern Van Buren County in middle Tennessee...
  Northern Warren County in middle Tennessee...
  White County in middle Tennessee...

* Until 415 AM CDT.

* At 1017 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or
  expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Doppler radar.

  IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
           highways, streets and underpasses as well as other
           drainage and low lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Cookeville, Sparta, Smithville, Algood, Monterey, Baxter,
  Alexandria, Doyle, Dowelltown, Liberty, Centertown, Burgess Falls
  State Park, Bakers Crossroads, Hamptons Crossroads, Rock Island
  State Park, Edgar Evans State Park, Center Hill Lake and Virgin
  Falls State Natural Area.

Areas of concern include Fall Creek near Smithville, Dry Creek
including Bluhmtown and Dowelltown, Clear Fork Creek including
Gassaway and Liberty, and Falling Water River including areas near
Cookeville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.
