...Monthly climate summary for May, 2021...
Despite a long dry spell during the middle of May, there was still
sufficient rainfall for the month, and temperatures ended up
cooler than normal, in spite of a warm stretch that brought the
first 90 degree readings of the season.
In Nashville, the average temperature was 66.7 degrees. This was
2.6 degrees cooler than normal. The average high temperature was
78.0 degrees and the average low temperature was 55.4 degrees. The
highest temperature was 93 degrees on the 25th, and the lowest
temperature was 42 degrees on the 14th. There were 3 days when the
temperature reached 90 degrees or better.
Rainfall for May totaled 5.05 inches. Normal rainfall is 5.02
inches. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 2.03 inches on the 2nd
and 3rd. There were 11 days with measurable rainfall, despite a
string of 16 days with no measurable rainfall from the 10th
through the 25th.
There were 4 days with thunderstorms. The fastest wind gust was
48 mph on the 6th.
In Clarksville, the average temperature was 64.5 degrees. This
was 2.8 degrees cooler than normal. The average high temperature
was 75.6 degrees and the average low temperature was 53.3
degrees. The highest temperature was 89 degrees on the 25th, and
the lowest temperature was 40 degrees on the 14th.
Rainfall for May totaled 3.85 inches. Normal rainfall is 4.90
inches. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.28 inches on the 9th.
There were 12 days with measurable rainfall.
There were 4 days with thunderstorms. The fastest wind gust was
52 mph on the 6th.
In Crossville, the average temperature was 61.0 degrees. This was
2.2 degrees cooler than normal. The average high temperature was
71.7 degrees and the average low temperature was 50.3 degrees.
The highest temperature was 84 degrees on the 24th and 25th, and
the lowest temperature was 40 degrees on the 6th and 13th.
Rainfall for May totaled 3.25 inches. Normal rainfall is 5.18
inches. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.63 inches on the 3rd

There were 2 days with thunderstorms. The fastest wind gust was
41 mph on the 4th and 28th.
The June outlook for Middle Tennessee from the Climate Prediction
Center calls for near normal temperatures and above normal
rainfall.
