...Climate summary for March, 2021...

March was warm and wet and brought excessive flooding to Middle
Tennessee, in addition to multiple rounds of severe weather.

In Nashville, rainfall totaled 12.28 inches, falling just short of
becoming the wettest March on record. That's 8.17 inches above
normal. Ironically, no rainfall was measured for 10 straight days
from the 2nd through the 11th. But 12.02 inches of rain were
measured in just 20 days beginning on the 12th. The greatest
24-hour rainfall was 6.90 inches on the 27th and 28th. Rainfall
was measured on 12 days and there were 4 days with an inch or
more. In one 4-day period, from the 25th through the 28th, 8.77
inches of rain were measured. And during the final 7 days of
March, rainfall totaled 10.14 inches.

There was no snowfall in March.

The average temperature for the month was 55.7 degrees. This was
5.7 degrees above normal. The average high temperature was 66.7
degrees and the average low temperature was 44.7 degrees. The
highest temperature was 79 degrees on the 16th and the average low
temperature was 28 degrees on the 7th. There were 3 days when the
temperature fell to 32 degrees or below.

There were 6 days with thunderstorms and the fastest wind gust was
43 mph on the 27th. The highest sea level pressure 30.57 inches
on the 8th and the lowest was 29.54 inches on the 18th.

Clarksville received far less rainfall in March, but still more
than normal. Rainfall totaled 6.76 inches, which was 2.79 inches
above normal. The greatest daily rainfall was 1.45 inches on the
17th. There were 12 days with measurable rainfall, and 2 days with
an inch or more.

The average temperature in March was 53.3 degrees. This was 4.5
degrees above normal. The average high temperature was 65.0
degrees and the average low was 41.6 degrees. The highest
temperature was 77 degrees on the 30th, and the lowest temperature
was 26 degrees on the 7th. There were 7 days when the temperature
dropped to 32 degrees or below.

There were 4 days with thunderstorms. The fastest wind gust was 44
mph on the 23rd. The highest sea level pressure 30.54 inches on
the 8th and the lowest was 29.52 inches on the 18th.

In Crossville, rainfall totaled 9.63 inches, which was 4.65
inches above normal. The greatest daily rainfall was 3.31 inches
on the 27th and 28th. There were 10 days with measurable
rainfall, and 5 days with an inch or more.

The average temperature in March was 50.0 degrees. This was 2.8
degrees above normal. The average high temperature was 60.8
degrees and the average low was 39.3 degrees. The highest
temperature was 71 degrees on the 24th, and the lowest
temperature was 22 degrees on the 7th. There were 12 days when
the temperature dropped to 32 degrees or below.

There were 4 days with thunderstorms. The fastest wind gust was 40
mph on the 27th and 28th. The highest sea level pressure 30.57
inches on the 8th and the lowest was 29.60 inches on the 18th.

The April outlook for Middle Tennessee from the Climate Prediction
Center favors above normal temperatures and near or below normal
rainfall.
