The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southeastern Jackson County in Middle Tennessee...
  Northwestern Putnam County in Middle Tennessee...

* Until 700 PM CDT.

* At 455 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. More than one and one half inch
  of rain has already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin
  shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Cookeville, Baxter and Cummins Falls State Park.

This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 277 and 289.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
