Areas affected...northwest into north-central Tennessee...western
into central Kentucky
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 400...
Valid 192128Z - 192330Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 400
continues.
SUMMARY...The severe threat continues across Severe Thunderstorm
Watch 0400. Damaging wind gusts remain the primary threat, with a
few instances of marginally severe hail also possible. Storms may
propagate/develop east of the current watch, and a new WW may be
needed downstream.
DISCUSSION...Multicellular clusters/quasi-linear convective segments
are in progress across portions of northwest TN into western KY.
Some of these storms have a history of damaging wind gusts. While
the kinematic fields will likely remain weak throughout the
afternoon/evening hours, ample buoyancy is in place over and
downstream of Severe Thunderstorm Watch 0400, which will support a
continued threat for damaging wind gusts.
Convective trends will be monitored for downstream WW issuance
pending further development of convection east of the Watch, as well
as with sustenance of convection across the western KY/northwest TN
areas.
