...Arctic cold to stay across Middle Tennessee into tomorrow...

Arctic cold in place across Middle Tennessee will continue to
bring bitterly cold temperatures and wind chills through early
Thursday. The coldest night of the season so far is still
expected tonight with low temperatures falling to between 5 and
15 degrees. Light north winds tonight will make it feel even
colder with wind chill values falling close to 0. Temperatures
will finally begin to rebound tomorrow with highs reaching the
30s and 40s by afternoon.

In addition to the brutally cold temperatures, a quick moving
system will bring some flurries and possible light snow to
locations north of I-40 tonight. Although a dusting of snow
cannot be ruled out especially near the Kentucky border, no
measurable snow is anticipated.

To protect yourself against this Arctic cold, be sure to dress in
layers and cover all exposed skin if venturing outside. Consider
bringing in any outdoor pets to protect them from the cold. Wrap
any outdoor pipes and faucets, and leave a slow drip on indoor
faucets to prevent them from freezing or bursting. Check on the
elderly and homeless as they are more susceptible to the cold.
