...Light Snow Showers this Morning to the North of I-40 followed
by Arctic Cold for all of Middle Tennessee through Tonight...
Following the arrival of an arctic cold front, an area of light
snow has moved into portions of northern Middle Tennessee this
morning. A dusting has been reported in locations across the
northwest quarter of the mid state. Similar amounts could occur
eastward across the remainder of northern Middle Tennessee this
morning. Use caution if driving on area roadways as any snow that
falls could create icy and slick conditions, especially on bridges
and overpasses.
Otherwise, the Arctic cold front will bring much colder
temperatures to Middle Tennessee through tonight. Highs today
will only reach the upper teens north to the mid 20s far south.
The coldest night of the season, thus far, is expected to occur
tonight when low temperatures drop into the single digits to low
teens. Making it feel even colder, northerly winds from 5 to 15
mph will cause wind chill values today through tonight to range
from the single digits north and teens south. Temperatures will
finally begin to rebound by Thursday afternoon with highs reaching
the 30s and 40s.
To protect yourself against this Arctic cold, be sure to dress in
layers and cover all exposed skin if venturing outside. Consider
bringing in any outdoor pets to protect them from the cold. Wrap
any outdoor pipes and faucets, and leave a slow drip on indoor
faucets, to prevent them from freezing or bursting. Check on the
elderly and homeless as they are more susceptible to the cold.
