The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Putnam County in Middle Tennessee...

* Until 1230 AM CDT.

* At 943 PM CDT, emergency management reported some isolated to
  scattered showers and possible an isolated thunderstorm or two
  continuing to move into southwest portions of the county. Over the
  last three hours, per Doppler radar estimates, many locations
  across the county have experienced around three inches of
  rainfall. Locations just south of and east of Algood have received
  between 4 to 6 inches of rainfall. Emergency management reports
  that high water is still likely in many locations across the
  county. These isolated to scattered showers and an isolated
  thunderstorm or two could bring an additional half to around an
  inch of rainfall to already saturated ground conditions as they
  move across the county over the next hour or so. Even as these
  areas continue to move northeast and rainfall ends, the flooding
  threat will still continue as runoff from rainfall will likely
  continue.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Cookeville, Algood, Monterey and Baxter.

This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 270 and 304.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
