Areas affected...Western and middle Tennessee...far north
Mississippi...extreme northwest Alabama
Concerning...Severe potential...Watch needed soon
Valid 290139Z - 290315Z
Probability of Watch Issuance...95 percent
SUMMARY...Severe threat continues with bowing complex in far west
Kentucky. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch will be issued soon.
DISCUSSION...A highly organized MCS continues to surge south into
far southeast Missouri into far western Kentucky, with a strong cold
pool and associated rear-inflow jet evident. Several reports of
severe wind gusts and wind damage reports have been received within
the last two hours, and given that at least a modestly buoyant
airmass remains in place (despite overturning from earlier
convection), the threat for damaging wind gusts will likely continue
for a few more hours. As such, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch will be
issued shortly.
