Areas affected...Southern/central Tennessee...portions of northern
Mississippi and Alabama
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 196...
Valid 220130Z - 220330Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 196
continues.
SUMMARY...WW 196 is set to expire at 02Z and no downstream watch is
expected. Storms may pose an isolated hail and strong to severe wind
gust threat after WW expiration.
DISCUSSION...Over the past hour, storms have formed atop the outflow
of previous convection in northern Alabama and Mississippi. A few of
these storms have shown signs of weak/modest mid-level rotation per
WSR-88D imagery. Any of these stronger storms -- given effective
deep-layer shear of 30-40 kts -- will be capable of a strong to
severe wind gust and marginally severe hail, however spatial
coverage of these threats will be limited. Given the isolated nature
of the threats, an additional WW is not likely.
