...The Potential For Light Snowfall Accumulations Will Continue
near the Cumberland Plateau through the Evening Hours...
...Hazardous Travel Conditions will persist through at least the
mid morning hours on Saturday...
Some isolated to scattered light snowfall will occur this
evening, with a fresh dusting to one half inch near the Cumberland
Plateau Region, and just flurries elsewhere. This will make
hazardous travel conditions worse in some locations.
Several reports from emergency management officials have already
been received of water refreezing in spots on some main roads,
with secondary roadways still very hazardous. Although main
roadways may continue to dry due to northerly winds,
some icy spots on the main roadways, along with ice on some
bridges and overpasses, will be likely. Temperatures are expected
to remain well below freezing, with lows tonight ranging from the
upper single digits to low teens. In most areas, wind chills will
be close to zero late tonight.
Sunshine will become more predominant Saturday morning allowing
improved travel conditions. However, high temperatures will only
be in the lower 20s on Saturday, with wind chill readings in the
single digits at least through the morning hours.
If you are traveling tonight through the mid morning hours on
Saturday, please exercise caution. You may need to drive slowly at
times, and leave in plenty of time to get to your designation. Be
sure that you have a winter weather safety kit in your vehicle,
including a blanket. If going outdoors, please dress appropriately
for cold weather.
