THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR TORNADO WATCH 505...506 CONTINUES.
SUMMARY...INTENSE SUPERCELLS OVER NORTHEAST AND EAST-CENTRAL MS WILL
CONTINUE TO TRACK EAST-NORTHEAST INTO AL THIS EVENING. THE
DOWNSTREAM ENVIRONMENT IS CONDUCIVE TO SUPPORTING A CONTINUED
TORNADO AND DAMAGING WIND THREAT.
DISCUSSION...A COUPLE OF INTENSE SUPERCELLS...ONE WITH A CONFIRMED
TORNADO IN MONROE COUNTY...MS WILL CONTINUE TO TRACK EAST-NORTHEAST
INTO FAR NORTHWEST AL. VWP DATA FROM THE GWX RADAR AT 0012Z SHOWED A
LARGE...CLOCKWISE CURVED LOW-LEVEL HODOGRAPH WITH 502 M2/S2 0-1KM
SRH. THIS AREA IS ALSO IN THE VICINITY OF A WARM FRONT STRETCHING
WEST TO EAST ACROSS NORTHERN MS/AL AND IN A STRONG WARM ADVECTION
REGIME. THE DOWNSTREAM ENVIRONMENT ACROSS NORTHERN AL IS SIMILAR TO
THAT CURRENTLY ACROSS NORTHEAST/EAST-CENTRAL MS AND 00Z REGIONAL
RAOBS CONFIRM THAT A STRONGLY SHEARED...MODESTLY UNSTABLE AIRMASS
EXTENDS AT LEAST AS FAR EAST AS CENTRAL AL...NORTHWARD TO THE AL/TN
BORDER. AS SUCH...SUPERCELL CHARACTERISTICS WILL REMAIN POSSIBLE WITH
ANY STORMS TRACKING INTO/DEVELOPING OVER THIS REGION THROUGH THE
EVENING HOURS. A WATCH TO THE EAST OF WW 505 AND WW 506 WITH BE
FORTHCOMING SOON.
