...EF-1 TORNADO CONFIRMED IN HICKMAN COUNTY FROM FRIDAY EVENING...

ON THE EVENING OF FRIDAY OCTOBER 10TH...A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS
DEVELOPED OVER WESTERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE. WITHIN THE LINE...ONE OF
THE THUNDERSTORMS BEGAN ROTATING AND A TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN IN
THE HILLTOP COMMUNITY OF NORTHEAST HICKMAN COUNTY. HERE ARE THE
PRELIMINARY FINDINGS FOR THIS TORNADO:

SUMMARY: A NWS STORM SURVEY IN CONJUNCTION WITH HICKMAN COUNTY
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT CONFIRMED AN EF1 TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN IN THE
HILLTOP COMMUNITY NORTHEAST OF CENTERVILLE. THE TORNADO BEGAN IN
A FORESTED AREA WEST OF HIGHWAY 100 THEN MOVED EAST-
NORTHEAST...SNAPPING OR UPROOTING NUMEROUS LARGE OAK TREES ALONG
JD BURLISON JR ROAD AND CAUSING MINOR SIDING DAMAGE TO ONE HOME.
ON THE EAST SIDE OF HIGHWAY 100...ANOTHER HOME SUFFERED PARTIAL
ROOF LOSS AND BROKEN WINDOWS WITH THE CARPORT...ADJACENT
GARAGE...AND AN OUTBUILDING ALL DESTROYED AS WELL AS NUMEROUS MORE
TREES SNAPPED OR UPROOTED. DEBRIS FROM THE BUILDINGS WAS BLOWN
OVER 100 YARDS INTO TREES TO THE EAST. ALONG BILL HENLEY
ROAD...ANOTHER HOME LOST ITS CARPORT AND PART OF ITS ROOF...AND
AN RV WAS BLOWN OVER ONTO ITS SIDE. THE TORNADO THEN TURNED EAST-
SOUTHEAST AND BLEW DOWN MORE TREES ALONG HILLTOP ROAD AND HIGHWAY
230...WITH ONE FALLING ACROSS THE HIGHWAY RESULTING IN A MOTORIST
DRIVING INTO THE TREE AND SUFFERING VERY MINOR INJURIES. A HOME
EAST OF HIGHWAY 230 WAS KNOCKED OFF ITS CINDER BLOCK FOUNDATION
WITH AN ADJACENT GARAGE DESTROYED...AND DEBRIS FROM THE BUILDINGS
WAS BLOWN OVER 100 YARDS THROUGH FIELDS. THE TORNADO THEN BLEW
DOWN A FEW MORE TREES BEFORE LIFTING.

FOR THEIR ASSISTANCE WITH THIS STORM DAMAGE SURVEY.
