...A QUICK SHOT OF SNOW AND SLEET FORECAST TO SWEEP ACROSS THE MID
STATE THIS MORNING...
...A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR NORTHWESTERN
COUNTIES THROUGH 10 AM CST...
AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE SWIFTLY ACROSS THE TENNESSEE
VALLEY THIS MORNING...PRODUCING A WINTRY MIX OVER MUCH OF THE MID
STATE. SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED OVER MAINLY
NORTHERN COUNTIES...RANGING FROM AROUND AN INCH IN THE
NORTHWEST...INCLUDING THE CLARKSVILLE AREA...TO A HALF INCH OR
LESS ALONG THE INTERSTATE 40 CORRIDOR. A DUSTING IS POSSIBLE IN
AREAS FURTHER SOUTH.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND SLEET REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR
THE NORTHWEST THROUGH 10 AM CST THIS MORNING...INCLUDING THE
CITIES OF CLARKSVILLE...DOVER...DICKSON ...ASHLAND CITY...AND
SPRINGFIELD. PATCHES OF SNOW AND SLEET WILL SWEEP ACROSS THE
AREA... WITH TEMPERATURES FALLING THROUGH THE LOWER 30S INTO THE
UPPER 20S. TRAVEL PROBLEMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP...ESPECIALLY
ALONG BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES...WHICH ARE ALWAYS THE FIRST TO
DEVELOP ICY PATCHES.
THE TIME OF GREATEST LIKELIHOOD FOR SNOW AND SLEET ALONG THE
INTERSTATE 40 CORRIDOR...INCLUDING THE NASHVILLE METRO AREA...WILL
BE DURING THE MORNING HOURS AFTER SUNRISE. PATCHY SNOW AND SLEET
WILL DEVELOP...AS ARCTIC AIR PUSHES IN AND SENDS TEMPERATURES
FALLING TO THE FREEZING MARK. EVEN THOUGH THE BULK OF WINTRY
PRECIPITATION IS ONLY EXPECTED TO LAST A SHORT TIME...PERHAPS JUST
AN HOUR OR TWO...TEMPERATURES WILL BE SUFFICIENTLY COLD TO PRODUCE
SOME SLICK SPOTS ON AREA ROADWAYS...ESPECIALLY ALONG BRIDGES AND
OVERPASSES.
TRAVEL PROBLEMS IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE ARE EXPECTED TO IMPROVE
QUICKLY BY EARLY AFTERNOON AS THE LOW PRESSURE AREA MOVES RAPIDLY
OFF TO THE EAST. PARTLY SUNNY SKIES THIS AFTERNOON...ALONG WITH
GUSTY WINDS...SHOULD HELP DRY MOST ROADS. HOWEVER...SCATTERED
SNOW SHOWERS WILL LIKELY LINGER ALONG THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU INTO
THE EVENING HOURS...AS TEMPERATURES FALL THROUGH THE MID TO UPPER
20S. AS A RESULT...SOME ROADS ALONG THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU MAY KEEP
SLICK SPOTS INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS.
PLEASE STAY WEATHER AWARE THROUGH MONDAY MORNING...AS THIS
SNOWFALL HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CREATE SOME TRAVEL HEADACHES.
