PUBLIC SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0912 PM CDT MON APR 28 2014
...Severe thunderstorms expected over parts of the Mississippi and
Tennessee Valleys overnight...
* LOCATIONS...
Much of Alabama
Southern Mississippi
Northwest Georgia
Southeast Tennessee
* HAZARDS...
Several tornadoes, a few intense
Scattered damaging winds
Scattered large hail
* SUMMARY...
A severe weather outbreak will continue this evening from parts
of Tennessee southwestward across parts of northwestern Georgia,
Alabama, and Mississippi. Several additional tornadoes will be
possible, some of which could be strong. Large hail and damaging
straight line winds are also likely.
Preparedness actions...
Tornadoes at night can be particularly dangerous because they
are usually fast-moving and difficult to see. Stay tuned to
NOAA Weather Radio, weather.gov, or other media for watches and
warnings. A tornado watch means that conditions are favorable
for tornadoes to form during the next several hours. If a tornado
warning is issued for your area, move to a place of safety,
ideally in a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a
sturdy building.
