A FEW SPOTS IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE SAW RAINFALL EXCEED 9 INCHES BETWEEN
THE MORNING OF JULY SECOND AND THE MORNING OF JULY SEVENTH. MANY
LOCATIONS SAW BETWEEN 6 AND 9 INCHES.
THE HEAVIEST RAINS GENERALLY FELL ALONG AND EAST OF THE I 65
CORRIDOR...AS WELL AS IN THE NORTHWEST AROUND CLARKSVILLE.
SMITH COUNTY...EAST OF NASHVILLE...SAW THE GREATEST RAINFALL
AMOUNTS...WITH ONE LOCATION 4.5 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF
ELMWOOD RECEIVING 9.85 INCHES. A POINT JUST SOUTHWEST OF CARTHAGE
RECEIVED 9.46 INCHES. OTHER LARGE RAINFALL TOTALS IN SMITH COUNTY
INCLUDED...7.97 INCHES NEAR GORDONSVILLE...AND 7.42 INCHES ...SIX
AND A HALF MILES SOUTHEAST OF HARTSVILLE.
QUITE A FEW OBSERVING STATIONS FROM BEDFORD COUNTY ALSO REPORTED
HIGH RAINFALL TOTALS...INCLUDING...8.84 INCHES...SIX MILES EAST
SOUTHEAST OF WARTRACE. ONE SPOT NEAR BELL BUCKLE RECEIVED 7.88
INCHES...WITH EXTREME SOUTHERN PARTS OF THE COUNTY GETTING BETWEEN

THE LEAST AMOUNT OF RAIN FELL OVER WESTERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE...
WHERE AMOUNTS WERE GENERALLY LESS THAN TWO INCHES.
THE WEATHER SYSTEM THAT PRODUCED ALL THE HEAVY RAINS HAS NOW MOVED
EAST AND...HOPEFULLY...THE MID STATE WILL GET CHANCE TO DRY OUT A
LITTLE OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
