...EF-1 TORNADO CONFIRMED FROM FRIDAY IN SOUTHERN CHEATHAM COUNTY...
...OTHER DAMAGE IN CHEATHAM...DICKSON AND HUMPHREYS COUNTY WAS FROM
STRAIGHT LINE WINDS...
EF-1 TORNADO WITH MAXIMUM WIND SPEEDS AROUND 90 MPH TOUCHED DOWN
ALONG MT PLEASANT ROAD JUST SOUTH OF KINGSTON SPRINGS. THE NEARLY 1
MILE DAMAGE PATH OF THE TORNADO CONTAINED DOZENS OF SNAPPED OR
UPROOTED TREES...A DESTROYED BARN...AND SEVERAL HOMES WITH MINOR
ROOF DAMAGE. THE MAXIMUM PATH WIDTH WAS NEARLY 100 YARDS.
OTHER AREAS SURVEYED TODAY INCLUDED AROUND PEGRAM IN CHEATHAM
COUNTY...DICKSON AND TENNESSEE CITY IN DICKSON COUNTY...AND SOUTH OF
MCEWEN IN HUMPHREYS COUNTY. MANY TREES WERE BLOWN DOWN OR
SNAPPED...AND THERE WERE INSTANCES OF MINOR ROOF DAMAGE TO HOMES AND
A HOTEL. ALL OF THIS DAMAGE WAS DUE TO STRAIGHT LINE WINDS.
SEVERAL INSTANCES OF EXTREME HAIL DAMAGE WERE NOTED DURING THE
SURVEY AROUND PEGRAM AND KINGSTON SPRINGS. SEVERAL BUILDING
SUFFERED CONSIDERABLE ROOF...WINDOW AND SIDING DAMAGE FROM THE GOLF
BALL AND LARGER SIZED HAIL.
