THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR MIDDLE TENNESSEE.
.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT
A STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER SOUTHEAST TEXAS THIS MORNING WILL
CONTINUE TO MOVE NORTHEAST TOWARD TENNESSEE TODAY...RAIN WILL SPREAD
AHEAD OF THE SYSTEM THAT WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON. RAINFALL
WILL INCREASE THIS EVENING AS THE LOW GETS CLOSER TO MIDDLE TENNESSEE.
LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL IS LIKELY WITH THIS STORM SYSTEM TONIGHT...WITH
THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS OVER THE SOUTHEAST HALF OF THE MID STATE. GIVEN THE
INTENSITY OF THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM THE STORM WILL ALSO GENERATE
STRONG WINDS OVER THE AREA TONIGHT. EXPECT SUSTAINED WINDS OF 15
TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS AS HIGH AS 35 MPH. IN ADDITION...THERE IS ALSO
A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FOR SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE
TONIGHT...WITH THE GREATEST THREAT FROM SEVERE STORMS BEING DAMAGING
WINDS AND ISOLATED TORNADOES.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY...
MUCH COLDER AIR WILL POUR INTO THE REGION IN THE EARLY MORNING
HOURS ON WEDNESDAY IN THE NORTHWEST AND SPREAD EAST DURING THE
DAY WEDNESDAY. THIS WILL SLOWLY CHANGE THE PRECIPITATION FROM RAIN
TO SNOW. FORTUNATELY THE LOW WILL TRACK RIGHT ACROSS THE AREA AND
PULL OUT OF THE AREA IN THE AFTERNOON ON WEDNESDAY. THIS SHOULD
LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF SNOWFALL TO AROUND ONE INCH OR LESS.
.SPOTTER CALL TO ACTION STATEMENT...
REPORTS FROM TRAINED WEATHER SPOTTERS MAY BE NEEDED.
SPOTTERS AND LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS ARE ENCOURAGED
TO REPORT ANY SNOW ACCUMULATIONS TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
IN NASHVILLE.
