...STRONG STORM SYSTEM HEADED FOR MIDDLE TENNESSEE...
A STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM HAS FORMED OVER TEXAS AND WILL SOON
BEGIN HEADING NORTHEASTWARD TOWARD MIDDLE TENNESSEE. RAIN AHEAD OF
THE SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON. RAINFALL WILL
INCREASE THIS EVENING AS THE LOW APPROACHES THE AREA. LOCALLY
HEAVY RAINFALL IS POSSIBLE WITH THIS SYSTEM. WE EXPECT ONE TO TWO
INCHES OF RAINFALL WITH THIS SYSTEM FOR LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND
TONIGHT. HIGHEST AMOUNTS WILL BE OVER THE SOUTHEAST HALF OF THE
AREA.
THIS SYSTEM MAY ALSO GENERATE ISOLATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS
OVER THE AREA SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 40 TONIGHT. GREATEST THREAT FROM
SEVERE STORMS WILL BE DAMAGING WINDS AND ISOLATED TORNADOES.
GIVEN THE INTENSITY OF THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM THIS STORM WILL
GENERATE STRONG WINDS OVER THE AREA. EXPECT WINDS WITH THIS STORM
TO START OUT ON WEDNESDAY MORNING FROM THE NORTHEAST AT 10 TO 20
MPH AND THEN SHIFT SLOWLY TO EAST AND THEN SOUTHEAST. HIGHER GUSTS
ARE POSSIBLE. THEN THE WINDS WILL SHIFT TO NORTHWEST AT 15 TO 25 MPH
IN THE AFTERNOON AFTER THE LOW PASSES. GUSTS TO 35 MPH ARE POSSIBLE.
AS THE SHIFT TO NORTHWEST WINDS OCCURS...MUCH COLDER AIR WILL POUR
INTO THE REGION. THIS WILL SLOWLY CHANGE THE PRECIPITATION FROM
RAIN TO SNOW. FORTUNATELY THE LOW WILL TRACK RIGHT ACROSS THE AREA
AND PULL OUT OF THE AREA IN THE AFTERNOON ON WEDNESDAY. THIS
SHOULD LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF SNOWFALL TO AROUND ONE INCH OR LESS.
