AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...
THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE
DEVELOPMENT OF A FEW STRONG TORNADOES AND POTENTIALLY WIDESPREAD
DAMAGING WINDS OVER PARTS OF THE PARTS OF THE OZARK PLATEAU INTO
UPPER PORTIONS THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY THIS AFTERNOON AND
TONIGHT.
THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE
CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
NORTHWEST LOUISIANA
NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI
SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA
WESTERN TENNESSEE
NORTHEAST TEXAS
ELSEWHERE...SEVERE STORMS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE FROM PORTIONS OF THE
SOUTHERN PLAINS EASTWARD AND NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE APPALACHIANS
AND LOWER GREAT LAKES REGION.
AN INCREASINGLY UNSTABLE AIR MASS IS BECOMING SUPPORTIVE OF SEVERE
STORM DEVELOPMENT ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST
TEXAS THROUGH THE OZARK PLATEAU AND UPPER PORTIONS OF THE LOWER
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY LATE THIS AFTERNOON. AS A WEATHER DISTURBANCE
ADVANCES EASTWARD OUT OF THE SOUTHERN ROCKIES BY EARLY THIS
EVENING...STRENGTHENING WIND FIELDS ARE EXPECTED TO ENHANCE THESE
STORMS...AND CONTRIBUTE TO THE POTENTIAL FOR LONG-LIVED SUPERCELL
STORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING STRONG TORNADOES...AS WELL AS ORGANIZING
STORM CLUSTERS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WIND GUSTS. THIS
THREAT IS EXPECTED TO INCREASE THIS EVENING...AND CONTINUE THROUGH
MUCH OF THE NIGHT...WITH THE DANGERS AGGRAVATED BY OBSCURATION
ASSOCIATED WITH NIGHTFALL.
STATE AND LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGERS ARE MONITORING THIS POTENTIALLY
