AREAS AFFECTED...SW VA...NE TN...WRN/CNTRL NC
CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH UNLIKELY
VALID 231649Z - 231915Z
THUNDERSTORMS HAVE BEGUN TO INTENSIFY ALONG THE WV/VA BORDER IN THE
SRN BLUE RIDGE REGION EARLY THIS AFTERNOON...PRESUMABLY NEAR THE
LEADING EDGE OF A COLD POOL EMANATING FROM DECAYING MID-OH VALLEY
CONVECTION. DOWNSTREAM BOUNDARY LAYER HAS HEATED RAPIDLY THIS
AFTERNOON WITH 90-95 DEG F COMMON. COMBINATION OF WNW
UNIDIRECTIONAL FLOW REGIME AND MAGNITUDE OF LOW-LEVEL LAPSE RATES
WILL CONTRIBUTE TO AN ISOLATED MICROBURST POTENTIAL WITH STRONGER
MULTICELL STORMS. SOME COLLISION/COALESCING OF STORMS MAY LEAD TO
SLIGHTLY HIGHER POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGING WIND GUSTS IN THE PIEDMONT
TRIAD/WRN PIEDMONT-FOOTHILLS OF NC LATER THIS AFTERNOON.
