...A WINTER STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR MIDDLE TENNESSEE FRIDAY
AND FRIDAY NIGHT...
A WINTER STORM IS EXPECTED IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE FROM LATE THURSDAY
NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING, SIGNIFICANT SNOW AND ICE
ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED. THOSE PLANNING TRAVEL DURING THAT
PERIOD SHOULD REMAIN AWARE OF THE LATEST WEATHER FORECAST.
A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE ALONG THE GULF COAST REGION LATE
THIS WEEK. THIS SYSTEM WILL PROVIDE AN INCREASE IN MOISTURE
ACROSS THE MID STATE WHILE PULLING IN COLDER AIR FROM THE NORTH.
THURSDAY NIGHT, WINTRY PRECIPITATION WILL BEGIN DEVELOPING IN
AREAS WEST OF NASHVILLE. LIGHT SNOW AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS ARE
POSSIBLE BY DAYBREAK FRIDAY.
ON FRIDAY, SNOW WILL SPREAD ACROSS NORTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE.
LOCATIONS ACROSS SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE WILL SEE A MIXTURE OF
RAIN, SNOW, SLEET, AND FREEZING RAIN. SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS OF
SNOW AND ICE WILL OCCUR.
FRIDAY EVENING, MUCH COLDER AIR WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE ENTIRE MID
STATE. MIXED PRECIPITATION WILL CHANGE TO ALL SNOW, AND
ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATION WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE AREA
FRIDAY NIGHT, AND POSSIBLY INTO SATURDAY MORNING.
SATURDAY NIGHT, LOOK FOR SKIES TO CLEAR OUT IN MOST AREAS. WITH AN
ARCTIC AIR MASS SETTLING IN ON TOP OF THE EXPECTED SNOW COVER,
TEMPERATURES WILL PLUMMET WELL INTO THE TEENS AND SINGLE DIGITS.
THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THE EXACT TIMING, TYPES,
AND AMOUNTS OF PRECIPITATION. HOWEVER, SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS FROM
WINTER WEATHER ARE EXPECTED. STAY TUNED FOR FORECAST UPDATES.
