PERIODS OF SNOW EXPECTED THIS WEEKEND...WHICH COULD PRODUCE SOME
TRAVEL PROBLEMS.
THE FIRST PERIOD OF SNOW IS FORECAST FOR THE EXTREME SOUTHERN AREAS
...NEAR THE ALABAMA BORDER...LATE TONIGHT AND FRIDAY...AS A LOW
PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVES EAST ACROSS THE GULF OF MEXICO TO OFF THE
EAST FLORIDA COAST. TEMPERATURES DURING THIS EVENT WILL BE MAINLY
BETWEEN 30 AND 34 DEGREES...WHICH COULD RESULT IN UP TO A HALF
INCH ACCUMULATION OF WET FLUFFY SNOW IN AREAS NEAR THE ALABAMA
BORDER. ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE MAINLY ON ROOFTOPS AND
GRASSY AREAS. ONLY SNOW FLURRIES ARE EXPECTED FURTHER NORTH TOWARD
NASHVILLE.
THE NEXT PERIOD OF SNOW OCCURS FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY
MORNING...AS A WEAK CLIPPER SYSTEM SWINGS IN FROM THE MISSOURI
BOOT HEEL. UP TO HALF AN INCH OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE NORTH OF
INTERSTATE 40...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE NORTHERN CUMBERLAND PLATEAU.
LOWS WILL BE IN THE UPPER TEENS TO MID 20S...SO THERE IS A
POSSIBILITY THAT SOME SLICK SPOTS COULD DEVELOP ON ROADWAYS WHERE
SUFFICIENT SNOW OCCURS.
A MORE SIGNIFICANT CLIPPER SYSTEM WILL MOVE THROUGH SATURDAY
NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY. A BRIEF SHOT OF SNOW...LATE SATURDAY NIGHT
AND SUNDAY MORNING...COULD DROP UP TO AN INCH OF SNOW...BEFORE
MIXING WITH RAIN SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF
BETWEEN ONE AND THREE INCHES OF SNOW SUNDAY NIGHT AND
MONDAY...WHEN THE UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE CROSSES SOUTHERN
KENTUCKY AND NORTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE...AND TEMPERATURES ARE
EXPECTED TO BE MAINLY IN THE MIDDLE 20S. TRAVEL PROBLEMS WILL BE
MOST LIKELY DURING THIS PARTICULAR PERIOD OF TIME.
IF YOU ARE TRAVELING ACROSS THE MID STATE THIS WEEKEND...YOU
SHOULD STAY TUNED TO A RELIABLE SOURCE OF WEATHER INFORMATION...
AND LISTEN FOR ANY UPDATED FORECASTS...TO SEE IF ACCUMULATING SNOW
IS EXPECTED ALONG YOUR TRAVEL PATH.
