SEPTEMBER AVERAGED 72.3 DEGREES AT NASHVILLE AIRPORT...WHICH IS 1.0
DEGREE ABOVE NORMAL. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 87 ON
THE 6TH...7TH...AND 8TH...AND THE COLDEST WAS 47 DEGREES ON THE LAST
DAY.
BUT THE BIG STORY WAS THE TOTAL RAINFALL FOR THE MONTH...WHICH WAS
11.08 INCHES. THIS IS 7.49 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL...AND MAKES IT THE
SECOND WETTEST SEPTEMBER ON RECORD...AND THE WETTEST IN 30 YEARS.
THE RECORD IS 11.44 INCHES WHICH WAS SET IN 1979. THE AIRPORT
RECORDED RAIN FROM THE 15TH THROUGH THE TWENTY-THIRD...9 CONSECUTIVE
DAYS...WHICH TIED 1957 FOR THE MOST CONSECUTIVE DAYS IN SEPTEMBER.
THE AIRPORT ALSO BROKE A DAILY RECORD WHEN 2.69 INCHES FELL ON THE
16TH.
FOR THE MID STATE..THE RAIN EVENTS PRODUCED SOME FLOODING...BUT IT
WAS MAINLY MINOR. MOST OF THE HEAVY RAINS FELL FROM THE 15TH THROUGH
THE 17TH...AND ON THE MORNING OF THE 26TH. OVER 10 INCH AMOUNTS FOR
THE MONTH WERE FAIRLY WIDESPREAD FROM HICKMAN...TO DAVIDSON...TO
WILSON...TO PUTNAM COUNTIES...AND ALSO FROM WAYNE TO GILES TO
MARSHALL COUNTIES. A PUBLIC REPORT FROM COOKEVILLE IN PUTNAM COUNTY
WAS THE HIGHEST WITH 15.47 INCHES.
CROSSVILLE AVERAGED 68.8 DEGREES FOR THE MONTH...1.7 DEGREES
ABOVE NORMAL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 82 DEGREES ON THE 8TH AND
25TH...WHILE THE COLDEST WAS 45 ON THE 29TH. TOTAL RAINFALL WAS 7.77
INCHES...WHICH IS 3.86 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.
CLARKSVILLE AVERAGED 71.1 DEGREES FOR THE MONTH AND TABULATED 4.27
