PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT...CORRECTION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN
336 PM CDT MON MAY 25 2009
...PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT...
WITH AN UPPER LEVEL AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI
VALLEY CONTINUING TO BRING MOISTURE FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO TO
THE MID SOUTH...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE IN THE
FORECAST FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
WATCH FOR DEVELOPING THUNDERSTORMS...ESPECIALLY IN THE
AFTERNOON...AND SEEK SHELTER WHEN STORMS APPROACH YOUR AREA.
KEEP A WEATHER RADIO HANDY...ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO GO
BOATING...AND BE READY TO SEEK SAFE HARBOR IF STORMS DEVELOP. AN
ISOLATED BOAT ON THE WATER IS AN EASY TARGET FOR LIGHTNING. IN
FACT...ANY ISOLATED STRUCTURE TENDS TO ATTRACT LIGHTNING. THIS
MEANS...YOU SHOULD AVOID STANDING UNDER TREES...OR REMAINING ON
THE GOLF COURSE...WHEN THUNDERSTORMS MOVE IN. IT IS ALWAYS BEST TO
MOVE INSIDE A HOUSE OR OTHER STURDY BUILDING WHEN THUNDERSTORMS OCCUR.
ALSO...REMEMBER...THAT LIGHTNING CAN STRIKE...AND KILL...FROM AT
LEAST SEVERAL MILES AWAY. THE THUNDERSTORM DOES NOT HAVE TO BE
RIGHT OVER YOU TO BE DANGEROUS.
KEEPING LIGHTNING SAFETY IN MIND CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE.
