...SEVERE STORMS LIKELY THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...
NEW MODEL GUIDANCE CONTINUES TO SUGGEST A SIGNIFICANT OUTBREAK OF
SEVERE WEATHER IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. A
POWERFUL STORM SYSTEM WILL INTENSIFY AS IT PULLS NORTHEAST FROM THE
LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY TODAY...BRINGING THE THREAT FOR DAMAGING
WINDS...LARGE HAIL...AND ISOLATED TORNADOES.
INTERESTS ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE ARE ENCOURAGED TO MONITOR LATER
FORECASTS AND STATEMENTS AS THIS EVENT DRAWS CLOSER.
IN ADDITION...BREEZY CONDITIONS WILL EXIST DURING THE AFTERNOON AND
EVENING HOURS OUTSIDE OF THE THUNDERSTORM AREAS DUE TO A STRONG
SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT. SUSTAINED WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WILL
PREVAIL...WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH.
PEAK TORNADO MONTHS IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE ARE APRIL AND MAY.
