...EF1 TORNADOES STRUCK MONTGOMERY COUNTY...
A STORM COMPLEX THAT WAS MOVING THROUGH MONTGOMERY COUNTY AROUND
FRIDAY AT MIDNIGHT SPAWNED 4 TORNADOES. THREE OF THESE TORNADOES
WERE IN THE PALMYRA AREA...AND ONE WAS SOUTHWEST OF DOWNTOWN
CLARKSVILLE AT THE FAIRGROUND.
THE FIRST TORNADO STRUCK AT 1157 PM...MAY 2 AT 3675 POSSUM HOLLOW
RD. THIS IS ABOUT 14 MILES SOUTHWEST OF CLARKSVILLE. THE TORNADO
SNAPPED TREES, TREES WERE LYING IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS...AND 2 VERY
LARGE TREES WERE UPROOTED BEHIND THE HOUSE. PATH LENGTH WAS 0.8
MILES WITH A PATH WIDTH OF 50 YARDS. THE TORNADO ENDED AT HIGHWAY 13
AND MCFALL RD. IT WAS RATED EF1 (86-110 MPH).
THE SECOND TORNADO EF1 TORNADO HIT AT MIDNIGHT, SATURDAY MAY 3, 13.5
MILES SOUTHWEST OF CLARKSVILLE AT 4160 TARSUS RD. A MOBILE HOME WAS
TORN FROM ITS FOUNDATION. PART OF THE MOBILE HOME WAS RIPPED APART
AND TOSSED ACROSS THE ROAD. TREES WERE SNAPPED. PATH LENGTH WAS 0.2
MILES AND PATH WIDTH WAS 30 YARDS.
THE THIRD EF1 TORNADO STURCK AT 1205 AM, SATURDAY MAY 3, ABOUT 9
MILES SOUTHWEST OF CLARKSVILLE AT HARRIS CIRCLE RD.
THE TORNADO ROLLED THE MOBILE HOME ACROSS THE ROAD. NUMEROUS TREES
WERE SNAPPED. THE TORNADO ENDED AT HIGHWAY 13 AND HARRIS CIRCLE RD.
THERE WERE 3 MINOR INJURIES FROM FOLKS INSIDE THE MOBILE HOME. THE
PATH WIDTH WAS 50 YARDS AND PATH WIDTH WAS 0.5 MILES.
THE FOURTH EF1 TORNADO STRUCK THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS AT
1210 AM, SATURDAY MAY 3, ON ZINC PLANT RD....WHICH IS ABOUT 2 MILES
SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF DOWNTOWN CLARKSVILLE. A PAVILLION WAS DESTROYED.
TELEPHONE POLES WERE SNAPPED IN HALF. A WOODEN UTILITY POLE WAS
LEANING. THE PATH LENGTH WAS 0.3 MILES AND PATH WIDTH WAS ABOUT 50
YARDS.
