...SIGNIFICANT SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED OVER PARTS OF THE LOWER
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY TODAY INTO TONIGHT...
THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE
DEVELOPMENT OF A FEW STRONG TORNADOES OVER PARTS OF THE LOWER
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY TODAY INTO TONIGHT.
THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE
EASTERN ARKANSAS
NORTHERN LOUISIANA
NORTHWESTERN MISSISSIPPI
WESTERN TENNESSEE
ELSEWHERE...SEVERE STORMS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE FROM THE SOUTHERN GREAT
LAKES SOUTHWARD INTO THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY.
A MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIR MASS HAS DEVELOPED TODAY OVER THE LOWER
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY IN ADVANCE OF A COLD FRONT MOVING EAST ACROSS THE
REGION. ADDITIONALLY...A STRONG MIDDLE AND UPPER-LEVEL JET STREAM
WILL EXIST ACROSS THE SRN PLAINS THROUGH THE OZARK PLATEAU REGION
INTO THE OH VALLEY. THIS IS RESULTING IN STRONG...VERTICAL WIND
SHEAR ACROSS THE DESTABILIZING AIR MASS. SEVERAL SUPERCELL
THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED ALONG THE COLD FRONT OVER CENTRAL
ARKANSAS LATE THIS MORNING...AND THESE STORMS WILL LIKELY CONTINUE
TODAY EASTWARD INTO WESTERN TENNESSEE...NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI...AND
PERHAPS NORTHERN LOUISIANA. THESE STORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF
PRODUCING TORNADOES...SOME OF WHICH COULD BE STRONG...THIS AFTERNOON
INTO EVENING. IN ADDITION TO THE TORNADO THREAT...CORRIDORS OF
DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE MODERATE
RISK AREA.
THOSE IN THE THREATENED AREA ARE URGED TO REVIEW SEVERE WEATHER
SAFETY RULES AND TO LISTEN TO RADIO...TELEVISION...AND NOAA WEATHER
RADIO FOR POSSIBLE WATCHES...WARNINGS...AND STATEMENTS LATER TODAY.
