...WARMEST COMBINED AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER ON RECORD IN THE MAKING...

...MUCH NEEDED RAIN ON THE HORIZON...

AUGUST 2007 AVERAGED 9.0 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL AND ENDED UP THE HOTTEST
MONTH ON RECORD IN THE 137 YEARS OF RECORD KEEPING IN NASHVILLE. SEPTEMBER
TEMPERATURES HAVE BACKED OFF FROM THE TRIPLE DIGITS OF AUGUST...BUT
STILL IT HAS BEEN WARM...WITH THE TEMPERATURE AVERAGING 4.3 DEGREES
ABOVE NORMAL THROUGH SEPTEMBER 25TH. SO FAR IT HAS BEEN THE WARMEST
SEPTEMBER SINCE 1998.

AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER OF 2007 HAVE COMBINED THUS FAR...FOR AN AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE OF 81.7 DEGREES...WHICH IS THE HOTTEST FOR THIS TWO MONTH
PERIOD ON RECORD. IN 1925 AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER COMBINED FOR AN AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE OF 80.5 DEGREES...AND IT WAS ALSO ONE OF THE FEW TIMES...
THAT SEPTEMBER WAS HOTTER THAN AUGUST.

A COOL FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH MIDDLE TENNESSEE ON THURSDAY WITH COOLER
TEMPERATURES ON FRIDAY...BUT WARMING INTO THE LOW TO MID 80S OVER THE
WEEKEND. WE MAY VERY WELL HAVE SEEN THE LAST OF THE 90 DEGREE TEMPERATURES
IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE FOR THIS YEAR. THE LATEST THAT NASHVILLE HAS REACHED
THE 90 DEGREE MARK IN THE FALL IS OCTOBER 10TH...BACK IN 1980.

IN ADDITION TO SOMEWHAT COOLER TEMPERATURES...MIDDLE TENNESSEE IS IN
STORE FOR SOME MUCH WELCOMED RAINFALL. IT HAS BEEN TWO WEEKS SINCE
MANY AREAS IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE RECEIVED ANYTHING CLOSE TO A SIGNIFICANT
RAINFALL. SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE FORECAST
FOR TODAY...WITH SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS BECOMING MORE NUMEROUS
TONIGHT AND THURSDAY...AS THE COOL FRONT APPROACHES. RAINFALL AMOUNTS
TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY WILL AVERAGE ONE HALF INCH IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE...BUT
LOCALLY...UP TO ONE INCH IS POSSIBLE...ACROSS NORTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE.
