A MOISTURE LADEN AIRMASS IS STREAMING NORTHWARD FROM THE LOWER
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AND GULF REGION THIS MORNING. AS RESULT...WIDESPREAD
RAIN...ALONG WITH ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS...IS COVERING A LARGE
PART OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE. THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL SINCE DAYBREAK HAS
BEEN IN SOUTHWEST MIDDLE TENNESSEE...WHERE 1.28 INCHES OF RAIN HAD
FALLEN IN SOUTHERN LEWIS COUNTY...WITH 1.25 INCHES OF RAIN AROUND
COLLINWOOD AND CYPRESS INN...IN WAYNE COUNTY. IN THE EASTERN AREAS
OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE...RAINFALL AMOUNTS THIS MORNING...HAVE RANGED
FROM ONE TENTH TO ONE QUARTER OF AN INCH...WHILE OVER THE
NORTHWEST...THE RAIN HAS BEEN A LITTLE HEAVIER...WITH AMOUNTS
AROUND ONE HALF TO THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH.
RAIN IS IN THE FORECAST FOR ALL OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE TODAY AND TONIGHT...
WITH UP TO ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN POSSIBLE...THROUGH DAYBREAK
TUESDAY. RAINFALL COULD BE HEAVY AT TIMES LATER TONIGHT.
RAINFALL FOR THE LAST 9 MONTHS IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE IS AVERAGING
ABOUT 60 PERCENT OF THE 30 YEAR NORMAL. 2007...RANKS AS THE 3RD
DRIEST FIRST 9 MONTHS OF ANY YEAR ON RECORD IN NASHVILLE. 1986 WAS
THE DRIEST JANUARY THROUGH SEPTEMBER ON RECORD IN NASHVILLE...FOLLOWED
