...ARCTIC AIR IS ON THE WAY TO MIDDLE TENNESSEE...
ARCTIC AIR IS POISED OVER THE HIGH PLAINS THIS MORNING...AND WILL
DROP SOUTHEAST DURING THE DAY. THE LEADING EDGE OF THE ARCTIC AIR
MASS WILL ENTER NORTHWEST MIDDLE TENNESSEE AFTER MIDNIGHT...AND
SPREAD ACROSS THE MID STATE BEFORE DAYBREAK...NEW YEARS DAY.
TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND FREEZING TUESDAY MORNING AND WILL RISE
LITTLE DURING THE DAY. A FEW FLURRIES ARE POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT...MAINLY
ALONG THE PLATEAU. HIGHS ON NEW YEARS DAY ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN
THE LOWER 30S ALONG THE PLATEAU...AND IN THE MIDDLE 30S
ELSEWHERE...WITH BRISK NORTHWEST WINDS 15 TO 25 MPH...WITH GUSTS
TO 30 MPH. FLURRIES ARE EXPECTED ON NEW YEARS DAY ACROSS ALL OF
MIDDLE TENNESSEE...WITH SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS DURING THE AFTERNOON
AND EVENING...MAINLY EAST OF NASHVILLE...WITH A DUSTING TO ONE HALF
INCH POSSIBLE OVER THE PLATEAU.
TEMPERATURES TUESDAY NIGHT WILL BE DOWN IN THE LOW TO MID TEENS.
HIGHS ON WEDNESDAY WILL RANGE FROM 25 TO 30 DEGREES. WIND CHILL
TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM ZERO TO FIVE ABOVE WEDNESDAY MORNING.
THE COLD WEATHER WILL BE SHORT LIVED WITH TEMPERATURES WARMING
INTO THE 50S BY THIS WEEEKEND.
