...3 TORNADOES HIT NASHVILLE ON APRIL 16TH 1998...
NASHVILLE WAS HIT BY 3 TORNADOES ON THIS DATE...INCLUDING AN F3...
THAT STRUCK THE DOWNTOWN AREA AROUND 330 PM CDT. THIS WAS THE
FIRST TORNADO TO STRIKE THE DOWNTOWN AREA OF NASHVILLE...SINCE
MARCH 14TH 1933. IRONICALLY...THE APRIL 16TH 1998 TORNADO TOOK A
SIMILIAR PATH AS THE MARCH 14TH 1933 TORNADO.
A TOTAL OF 10 TORNADOES WERE CONFIRMED ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE
ON APRIL 16TH 1998...WITH 4 FATALITIES AND 105 INJURIES. ON MARCH
14TH 1933...11 PEOPLE WERE KILLED IN NASHVILLE...4 IN LEBANON AND
SCORES WERE INJURED.
THIS REMAINS THE 10TH LARGEST OUTBREAK IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE
HISTORY. THE LARGEST OUTBREAK EVER IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE...WAS
APRIL 3RD 1974 OUTBREAK...IN WHICH 24 TORNADOES SWEPT THROUGH THE
MID STATE. 41 PEOPLE DIED THAT DAY IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE.
