THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE
DEVELOPMENT OF DAMAGING WINDS...TORNADOES...AND LARGE HAIL OVER
PARTS OF THE MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI AND LOWER OHIO VALLEYS TODAY.
THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE
NORTHEAST ARKANSAS
MUCH OF ILLINOIS
MUCH OF INDIANA
WESTERN KENTUCKY
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
WESTERN OHIO
WESTERN TENNESSEE
SURROUNDING THIS REGION...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS FROM CENTRAL TEXAS NORTHEASTWARD ACROSS THE LOWER
MISSISSIPPI AND TENNESSEE VALLEYS INTO THE GREAT LAKES STATES.
A POWERFUL UPPER STORM SYSTEM IS TRACKING RAPIDLY EASTWARD INTO THE
NORTHERN PLAINS THIS MORNING. THIS SYSTEM IS FORECAST TO MOVE
ACROSS THE UPPER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AND INTO THE GREAT LAKES STATES
BY WEDNESDAY MORNING. MEANWHILE...A MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIR MASS
WILL DEVELOP TODAY ACROSS MUCH OF THE MID MISSISSIPPI AND LOWER OH
VALLEYS AHEAD OF UPPER SYSTEM. NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS ARE FORECAST
TO DEVELOP ALONG A COLD FRONT BY MID AFTERNOON ACROSS PARTS OF
MISSOURI AND ILLINOIS...SPREADING EASTWARD THROUGH THE EVENING INTO
INDIANA...WESTERN OHIO...WESTERN KENTUCKY...AND WESTERN TENNESSEE.
THUNDERSTORMS MAY ALSO DEVELOP SOUTHWESTWARD ALONG THE COLD FRONT
DURING THE EVENING INTO PARTS OF ARKANSAS AND TEXAS. CONDITIONS
APPEAR FAVORABLE FOR A SEVERE SQUALL LINE CAPABLE OF WIDESPREAD
