THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NASHVILLE HAS ISSUED A
* TORNADO WARNING FOR...
SOUTHERN SUMNER COUNTY IN TENNESSEE
THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF GALLATIN
* UNTIL 500 AM CDT
* AT 435 AM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM LIKELY CONTAINING A TORNADO 17 MILES WEST OF
GALLATIN...OR ABOUT 8 MILES SOUTHEAST OF SPRINGFIELD...MOVING
NORTHEAST AT 45 MPH.
* THE TORNADO WILL PASS OVER RURAL AREAS OF SUMNER COUNTY
BETWEEN NOW AND 455 AM AND WILL BE NEAR GALLATIN BY 500 AM.
DAMAGE HAS ALREADY BEEN REPORTED WITH THIS TORNADO AND YOU SHOULD
SEEK SHELTER NOW. THE SAFEST PLACE TO BE DURING A TORNADO IS IN A
BASEMENT. GET UNDER A WORKBENCH OR OTHER PIECE OF STURDY FURNITURE.
IF NO BASEMENT IS AVAILABLE...SEEK SHELTER ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF
THE BUILDING IN AN INTERIOR HALLWAY OR ROOM SUCH AS A CLOSET.
USE BLANKETS OR PILLOWS TO COVER YOUR BODY AND ALWAYS STAY AWAY
FROM WINDOWS.
IF IN MOBILE HOMES OR VEHICLES...EVACUATE THEM AND GET INSIDE A
SUBSTANTIAL SHELTER. IF NO SHELTER IS AVAILABLE...LIE FLAT IN THE
NEAREST DITCH OR OTHER LOW SPOT AND COVER YOUR HEAD WITH YOUR HANDS.
