THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR MIDDLE TENNESSEE.
.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT
BREEZY TO WINDY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL TODAY AND THIS EVENING AS THE
PRESSURE GRADIENT...IN ADVANCE OF AN APPROACHING FRONTAL SYSTEM...
STRENGTHENS. THUS...A LAKE WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT THROUGH 6
PM THIS EVENING AS WIND GUSTS OF UP TO 35 MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE.
ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE FRONTAL PASSAGE TONIGHT...THERE IS A SLIGHT
RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS...PRIMARILY ACROSS THAT PORTION OF
MIDDLE TN ALONG AND TO THE NORTHWEST OF A PORTLAND...NASHVILLE TO
WAYNESBORO LINE. WIND DAMAGE AND HAIL WILL BE THE MAIN THREAT
ASSOCIATED WITH THESE STORMS. THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT WILL BEGIN
AROUND 8 PM AND SHOULD END AROUND 2 AM AS THE COLD FRONT PASSES.
OVER THE REMAINDER OF MIDDLE TN TONIGHT...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL
STILL BE POSSIBLE WITH SMALL HAIL AND WIND GUSTS TO 40 MPH BEING THE
CHIEF THREAT.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY
INCREASINGLY COLDER AIR IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO MIDDLE TN ON FRIDAY
AND INTO THE WEEKEND. MEANWHILE...THE COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO
STALL OUT ACROSS THE SOUTHERN GULF COASTAL STATES. AS A SERIES OF
SFC LOWS MOVE NORTHEAST ALONG THE BOUNDARY...MOISTURE WILL BE
LIFTED BACK TO THE NORTH AND UP AND OVER THE COLD AIR. AT THIS
TIME...FROZEN PRECIPITATION LOOKS LIKELY ACROSS MUCH OF THE MID
STATE BEGINNING LATE FRIDAY NIGHT AND INTO SATURDAY.
THE WAY IT LOOKS RIGHT NOW...ON FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY...
PRECIPITATION WILL BE ALL SNOW ACROSS THE NORTH HALF OF THE MID STATE
AND THE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL CUMBERLAND PLATEAU. ACROSS SOUTHERN
MIDDLE TN...THE PRECIPITATION WILL FALL AS A MIXTURE OF RAIN...SLEET
AND FREEZING RAIN.
TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO BE QUITE COLD ON SATURDAY AND WILL
REMAIN IN THE 30 TO 35 DEGREE RANGE THROUGH THE DAY. THUS...SOME
ACCUMULATION OF ICE AND SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS MIDDLE TN
BEGINNING LATE FRIDAY NIGHT AND CONTINUING INTO SATURDAY.
THERE IS STILL A GOOD DEAL OF UNCERTAINTY WITH THIS POTENTIAL WINTER
WEATHER EVENT. STAY TUNED FOR LATER UPDATES.
AS IF THAT WAS NOT ENOUGH WINTER WEATHER...ANOTHER STORM SYSTEM
WILL SPREAD MOISTURE BACK ACROSS THE AREA SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND
SUNDAY NIGHT. AGAIN...A MIXTURE OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION WILL BE
POSSIBLE FOR THE MIDDLE PORTIONS OF THE VOLUNTEER STATE.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
SPOTTER ACTIVATION MAY BE NEEDED TONIGHT FOR SEVERE WEATHER ACROSS
ROUGHLY THE NORTHWESTERN THIRD OF THE MID STATE. OTHERWISE...THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WOULD APPRECIATE SPOTTER REPORTS OF ANY
WINTRY PRECIPITATION ACCUMULATION THAT MAY OCCUR THIS WEEKEND.
