PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT...CORRECTED
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN
1112 AM CDT THU OCT 20 2005
...UNUSUAL WEATHER THIS FALL...
NASHVILLE'S RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE YESTERDAY ADDED ONE MORE ELEMENT
TO AN AUTUMN SEASON THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN QUITE UNUSUAL. YESTERDAY'S
READING OF 89 DEGREES BROKE THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF 86 DEGREES, WHICH
WAS SET ON OCTOBER 19, 1953. IT IS ALSO THE LATEST 89 DEGREE READING
EVER RECORDED IN NASHVILLE'S HISTORY. THE PREVIOUS RECORD FOR THE
LATEST 89 DEGREE READING OCCURRED ON OCTOBER 15, 1947.
CROSSVILLE'S 81 DEGREES YESTERDAY ALSO SET A RECORD THERE. THE
PREVIOUS RECORD FOR OCTOBER 19 WAS 80 DEGREES, WHICH WAS SET ON MORE
THAN ONE OCCASION, THE LAST TIME BEING IN 1985.
AS FOR RAINFALL, NASHVILLE HAS MEASURED JUST 0.01 INCHES OF
PRECIPITATION THIS MONTH. CLARKSVILLE HAS RECORDED 0.02 INCHES, AND
CROSSVILLE HAS RECEIVED 0.68 INCHES.
SINCE SEPTEMBER 1, NASHVILLE HAS RECEIVED 1.45 INCHES OF
PRECIPITATION, WHICH IS ONLY 28 PERCENT OF NORMAL FOR THAT PERIOD.
FORTUNATELY, THE WARM, DRY TREND IS FORECAST TO END WITH THE PASSAGE
OF A MAJOR COLD FRONT TOMORROW. SCATTERED SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED LATER
TONIGHT, TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW NIGHT, WITH TEMPERATURES DROPPING
SHARPLY BY THE WEEKEND.
