THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

       CENTRAL AND EASTERN ARKANSAS
       EXTREME SOUTHERN ILLINOIS
       WESTERN KENTUCKY
       SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
       NORTHERN MISSISSIPPI
       WESTERN TENNESSEE

EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON FROM 740 AM UNTIL 500
PM CST.

...THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION...

DESTRUCTIVE TORNADOES...LARGE HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...
THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 80 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE
POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 120 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 30 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF
CAPE GIRARDEAU MISSOURI TO 35 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF GREENVILLE

DISCUSSION...A VERY MOIST/MODERATELY UNSTABLE WARM SECTOR IS PRESENT
THIS MORNING ACROSS THE MS VALLEY.  THE ADDITION OF SURFACE HEATING
SHOULD RESULT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF DEEP CONVECTION ALONG SEVERAL
SUBTLE BANDS WITHIN THE WARM SECTOR BY MID-LATE MORNING.  VERTICAL
SHEAR WILL BECOME INCREASINGLY FAVORABLE FOR SUPERCELLS WITH
POTENTIALLY DAMAGING TORNADOES BY MIDDAY AND INTO THE
AFTERNOON...WITH THE ADDITIONAL THREAT FOR DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE
HAIL.  LATER THIS AFTERNOON...EXPECT A FRONTAL SQUALL LINE TO MOVE
EWD ACROSS AR TOWARD THE MS RIVER...WITH THE THREAT FOR SIGNIFICANT
WIND DAMAGE...TORNADOES...AND LARGE HAIL.
