THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
EASTERN AND NORTHEASTERN ARKANSAS
NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI
EXTREME SOUTHWEST TENNESSEE
EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 1255 PM UNTIL
800 PM CST.
HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 60
MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.
THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 80
STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 50 MILES WEST NORTHWEST
OF WALNUT RIDGE ARKANSAS TO 35 MILES SOUTH SOUTHEAST OF GREENWOOD

NW MS AND SW TN LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. SURFACE HEATING
BENEATH THE MID LEVEL DRY SLOT...ALONG WITH RELATIVELY COLD MID
LEVEL TEMPERATURES AND STEEP LAPSE RATES...HAS RESULTED IN THE
DEVELOPMENT OF SBCAPE VALUES NEAR 1500 J/KG ACROSS ERN AR AND NW MS.
ADDITIONAL DESTABILIZATION IS EXPECTED DURING THE AFTERNOON...WHICH
WILL SUPPORT AN INCREASING THREAT FOR SEVERE STORMS. THOUGH
VERTICAL SHEAR WILL ALSO BE SUFFICIENT FOR LOW-TOPPED
SUPERCELLS...LARGE HAIL APPEARS TO BE THE MAIN THREAT.

TO 2 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 50
