...REMNANTS OF TROPICAL STORM ARLENE ENTERING SOUTHWEST
MIDDLE TENNESSEE...
AT 830 AM CDT...THE CENTER OF WHAT WAS ONCE TROPICAL STORM ARLENE
WAS LOCATED OVER WAYNE COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MIDDLE TENNESSEE.
SPIRAL BANDS OF MODERATE RAIN EXTENDED FROM THE LOW CENTER OUTWARD
ACROSS PORTIONS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE...GENERALLY WEST OF INTERSTATE
24. THESE BANDS WERE PRODUCING RAINFALL RATES BETWEEN ONE QUARTER TO
ONE HALF INCH PER HOUR AS THEY MOVE NORTH.
THE LOW WILL CONTINUE TO TRACK NORTH ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE
THROUGH THE MORNING AND AFTERNOON HOURS...REACHING WESTERN
KENTUCKY BY EARLY EVENING. THIS TRACK WILL PRODUCE ADDITIONAL
RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE HALF TO ONE INCH ACROSS AREAS...GENERALLY
WEST OF INTERSTATE 65.
IN ADDITION TO THE MODERATE RAINS...EXPECT GUSTY WINDS OF 25 TO 30
MPH ACROSS WESTERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE. THE COMBINED EFFECTS OF GUSTY
WINDS AND NEARLY SATURATED GROUND NEAR THE CENTER OF THE LOW...
MAY CAUSE DEAD OR SHALLOW ROOTED TREES TO BE BLOWN DOWN.
RAINFALL TOTALS THROUGH 7 AM CDT WERE GENERALLY BETWEEN ONE TO TWO
INCHES ACROSS WESTERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE. THERE WERE A FEW LOCATIONS
THAT RECEIVED BETWEEN 2 TO 3 INCHES. SOUTHERN WAYNE COUNTY
RECORDED 3.13 INCHES.
AREA RIVERS AND STREAMS ARE STILL WELL WITHIN THEIR BANKS...BUT ARE
BEGINNING TO RISE. WATER LEVELS MAY REACH NEAR BANKFULL...BUT AT
THIS TIME ARE FORECAST TO REMAIN BELOW FLOOD STAGE. RIVERS MOST
AFFECTED BY THE RAIN ARE THE BUFFALO RIVER...DUCK RIVER...AND SHOAL
CREEK.
A FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH TODAY FOR THE WESTERN
HALF OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE. THOSE LIVING NEAR RIVERS AND STREAMS OR
IN LOW LYING AREAS SHOULD REMAIN ALERT TO THE THREAT OF FLOODING.
