JANUARY AT NASHVILLE WAS VERY WARM...AVERAGING 6.6 DEGREES ABOVE
NORMAL. IN FACT...THE FIRST 13 DAYS OF THE MONTH AVERAGED AN
EXTRAORDINARY 18 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS
69 DEGREES ON THE FIRST...AND THE COLDEST WAS 13 DEGREES ON THE
18TH. TOTAL PRECIPITATION FOR THE MONTH WAS 4.42 INCHES...WHICH IS
0.45 INCH ABOVE NORMAL. ONLY A TRACE OF SNOW FELL...A RELATIVE
RARITY IN NASHVILLE. THIS AMOUNT IS 3.9 INCHES BELOW NORMAL.
THERE WERE SEVERAL MINOR WEATHER EVENTS FOR THE MIDSTATE IN JANUARY.
ON JANUARY 7TH...1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN WAS QUITE COMMON...AND MINOR
RIVER FLOODING WAS AGAIN A PROBLEM AT THE BUFFALO RIVER NEAR
LOBELVILLE. ON THE 13TH...A SQUALL LINE MOVED ACROSS THE REGION
CREATING WIDESPREAD MINOR WIND DAMAGE. UP TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN CAUSED
MINOR FLOODING YET AGAIN NEAR LOBELVILLE.
WINTER WEATHER RETURNED THE FINAL HALF OF THE MONTH. ON THE
16TH...MANY AREAS ON THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU RECEIVED AROUND A HALF
AN INCH OF SNOW. ON THE 23RD...SPOTTY AREAS FROM NASHVILLE TO
CROSSVILLE RECORDED A HALF INCH TO AN INCH OF SNOW. AND ON THE
29TH...EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU REGISTERED 1/4 TO
1/2 INCH OF ICE...RESULTING IN SOME POWER OUTAGES AND MINOR
DAMAGE.
FOR CLARKSVILLE...THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 41.4 DEGREES. THE
WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 68 DEGREES ON THE 12TH...AND THE COLDEST WAS
11 DEGREES ON THE 18TH. TOTAL PRECIPITATION WAS 4.08 INCHES.
FOR CROSSVILLE...THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 40.8 DEGREES...WHICH IS
5.7 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 65 DEGREES ON
THE FIRST...A RECORD FOR THE DATE...AND THE COLDEST WAS 7 DEGREES ON
THE 24TH. TOTAL PRECIPITATION WAS 5.38 INCHES...WHICH IS 0.19 INCH
ABOVE NORMAL. THE 1.84 INCHES ON THE 11TH AND THE 0.86 INCH ON THE
13TH WERE RECORDS FOR THE RESPECTIVE DATES.
