...ANOTHER WARM MONTH..AND PRETTY DRY TOO...
THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER AT NASHVILLE AIRPORT CONTINUED THE TREND OF
ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES...WITH THE AVERAGE OF 51.3 BEING 2
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THIS MARKED THE SIXTH STRAIGHT MONTH OF ABOVE
NORMAL TEMPERATURES. A RECORD HIGH WAS SET ON 2 DATES...83 DEGREES
ON THE 8TH AND 81 DEGREES ON THE 9TH. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE WAS 23
DEGREES ON THE 25TH. THE TOTAL RAINFALL WAS 3.29 INCHES...WHICH IS
1.16 INCHES BELOW NORMAL.
THERE WERE SEVERAL SEVERE WEATHER EVENTS DURING THE MONTH. ON THE
EARLY MORNING OF THE 6TH...DAMAGING STRAIGHT LINE WINDS MOVED ACROSS
NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHWEST MIDDLE TENNESSEE. NEAR JOELTON IN
DAVIDSON COUNTY IT WAS DETERMINED THE WINDS WERE NEAR 80 MPH.
ON THE 15TH...AN OUTBREAK OF TORNADOES OCCURRED...BUT THERE WERE NO
DEATHS REPORTED. THE NORTHWEST PORTIONS OF THE MID STATE RECEIVED
THE BRUNT OF THE STORMS...WITH MONTGOMERY COUNTY HARDEST HIT. WITH
19 TORNADOES REPORTED...THIS RANKED AS THE SECOND HIGHEST OUTBREAK
IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE HISTORY...ONLY SURPASSED BY THE 24 ON APRIL 3RD
1974.
ON THE 28TH...A GRADIENT WIND FEEDING INTO A LINE OF HEAVY SHOWERS
PRODUCED WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH OVER A WIDESPREAD
AREA...WITH MANY REPORTS OF MINOR DAMAGE.
ON THE OTHER END OF THE SCALE...LOCATIONS ALONG THE UPPER CUMBERLAND
PLATEAU RECEIVED A TASTE OF WINTER ON THE TWENTY-FIRST OF THE
MONTH...WITH SOME PLACES REGISTERING AN INCH OF ACCUMULATION.
CROSSVILLE AVERAGED 48 DEGREES FOR THE MONTH...WHICH IS 1.1 DEGREES
ABOVE NORMAL. TOTAL RAINFALL WAS 4.71 INCHES...WHICH IS .52 INCH
BELOW NORMAL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 76 DEGREES ON THE
8TH...AND THE COLDEST WAS 18 DEGREES ON THE 25TH.
CLARKSVILLE AVERAGED 49.3 DEGREES FOR THE MONTH AND TABULATED 3.20
INCHES OF RAINFALL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 82 DEGREES ON THE
8TH...WHILE THE COLDEST WAS 18 ON THE 25TH.
FOR THE AUTUMN MONTHS OF SEPTEMBER...OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER...THE
AVERAGE TEMPERATURE AT NASHVILLE WAS 62.5 DEGREES...WHICH IS 2.3
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THIS RANKED AS THE 24TH WARMEST FALL...WITH
135 YEARS OF RECORD KEEPING. THE TOTAL RAINFALL OF 4.75 INCHES WAS
6.16 INCHES BELOW NORMAL...MAKING THIS THE 11TH DRIEST FALL FOR
NASHVILLE.
