THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
CENTRAL AND PARTS OF SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
NORTHERN MISSISSIPPI
WESTERN AND PARTS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE
EFFECTIVE THIS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 1250 PM UNTIL 700
PM CDT.
HAIL TO 2.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70
MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.
THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 45
STATUTE MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 40 MILES SOUTH OF
FORT SMITH ARKANSAS TO 100 MILES EAST OF JACKSON TENNESSEE. FOR A

REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA.
PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING
WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE
WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE
TORNADOES.
OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...THIS SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH REPLACES
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 209. WATCH NUMBER 209 WILL NOT BE
IN EFFECT AFTER 1250 PM CDT.
DISCUSSION...ELEVATED THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE TO DEVELOP MOSTLY NORTH
OF E/W BOUNDARY THAT EXTENDS INTO WRN TN. WITH INCREASING
INSTABILITY AND AVAILABLE STRONG DEEP LAYER SHEAR...THUNDERSTORMS
EXPECTED TO BECOME MORE NUMEROUS AND INTENSE THRU THE AFTERNOON.
PRIMARY THREAT WILL BE LARGE HAIL BUT SUPERCELLS COULD DEVELOP
VICINITY BOUNDARY LATER THIS AFTERNOON INCREASING THREAT OF
TORNADOES. SOME COUNTIES IN SRN PORTION OF WATCH MAY NEED TO BE
INCLUDED IN A TORNADO WATCH DURING THE AFTERNOON.
AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
TO 2.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 500. MEAN STORM
