THE SOUTHEAST / GULF COAST REGION TODAY AND TONIGHT.
THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE
DEVELOPMENT OF LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS ALONG WITH ISOLATED
TORNADOES OVER PARTS OF THE OHIO VALLEY INTO THE SOUTHEAST / GULF
COAST REGION LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT.
THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE
MUCH OF ALABAMA
WESTERN GEORGIA
SOUTHERN INDIANA
MUCH OF KENTUCKY
SOUTHERN AND EASTERN MISSISSIPPI
MIDDLE TENNESSEE
SURROUNDING THE MODERATE RISK AREA...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM THE OHIO VALLEY ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST INTO
THE ATLANTIC COAST STATES...AND WESTWARD INTO SOUTHEAST TEXAS
STRONG / SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE ONGOING ACROSS THE CENTRAL AND
SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS AT THIS TIME...WITH NEW STORM DEVELOPMENT
FORECAST TO OCCUR THIS AFTERNOON AHEAD OF COLD FRONT FROM PARTS OF
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS / SOUTHERN INDIANA SOUTHWARD TO THE GULF
COAST...AND AS FAR WEST AS CENTRAL / SOUTHEAST TEXAS.
AIRMASS CONTINUES TO DESTABILIZE ACROSS THIS REGION...WHILE LOWER-
TO MIDDLE-TROPOSPHERIC FLOW INCREASES WITH TIME SOUTH OF DEEPENING
CENTRAL AND EASTERN U.S. TROUGH. DEGREE OF INSTABILITY AND SHEAR
WILL SUPPORT ORGANIZED / SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS WITH ATTENDANT
THREAT FOR WIDESPREAD LARGE HAIL...DAMAGING WINDS...AND A COUPLE OF
TORNADOES. THREAT SHOULD CONTINUE THROUGH THIS EVENING AND INTO THE
OVERNIGHT HOURS ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST...WITH A LESSER SEVERE THREAT
EXPANDING EWD TO THE ATLANTIC COAST THROUGH THE END OF THE PERIOD.
